"After my employer disputed my EPF contributions for three years, I honestly did not know where to start. The consultation here was the first time anyone explained clearly what my entitlement actually was — and why. The written summary helped me discuss the situation with my husband before deciding to proceed further."

Chong Swee Keong

"I was given a written legal opinion that I could actually read and understand. It set out the issues with my pension calculation clearly and gave me the confidence to raise a formal complaint with the scheme administrator. The outcome was in my favour. I appreciated that the firm never overstated what the opinion could achieve."

"The remote consultation option made it possible for me to get proper advice without making the journey to Penang. The lawyer spent the full hour with me, and the written summary arrived within two days. My pension matter was more straightforward than I feared. One meeting gave me the clarity I needed."

"I had received confusing letters from my former employer's pension administrator for months and had no idea what they meant. The consultation here cut through all of that. I was told the letters did not, in fact, affect my entitlement. I felt considerably calmer leaving the meeting than when I arrived."

"The representation in my Industrial Court proceedings was thorough. I always knew what step was coming next, and why. The written retainer meant there were no surprises about costs. We settled the matter before a full hearing — which the lawyer told me from the outset was the most likely and sensible outcome."

"The legal opinion document was something I could actually show my daughter, who helped me make the decision about next steps. It was written in plain English, not the sort of impenetrable legal language I had expected. That made all the difference for us as a family trying to understand the situation together."

Three Client Journeys in Detail
Identifying details have been changed to protect client confidentiality. The structure and outcomes reflect actual matters.
Challenge
A retired factory supervisor found that his EPF account showed contributions for only 18 of his 26 years of service. His former employer had changed ownership twice during that period, complicating the trail of responsibility.
Solution
We obtained contribution records from the EPF Board, cross-referenced them with the client's employment contracts, and produced a written opinion identifying the eight-year gap. We then represented the client in correspondence with the Board and the successor employer.
Outcome
A settlement was reached within four months. The client received a lump sum representing the outstanding contributions, with interest. He described the outcome as "more than I dared to hope for when I first came in." Total engagement: 5 months.
Challenge
A client aged 58 had accepted voluntary early retirement from a large employer. The pension benefit offered by the company scheme was substantially lower than what the scheme rules appeared to provide. The employer's HR department maintained their calculation was correct.
Solution
We reviewed the scheme trust deed against the employer's calculation and produced a legal opinion identifying a specific clause that the employer had misapplied. The opinion was provided to the client, who then wrote formally to the scheme administrator using the findings.
Outcome
The scheme administrator reviewed the calculation and revised the benefit upward, consistent with our opinion. No court proceedings were necessary. The client received ongoing monthly payments at the corrected rate. Engagement: legal opinion only, 12 working days to deliver.
Challenge
A client in her early 50s was retrenched along with eleven colleagues. The employer refused to recognise a contractual clause providing enhanced pension benefits for employees retrenched after 15 years of service. She had served 17 years.
Solution
We filed a claim in the Industrial Court asserting the contractual entitlement. Pleadings were prepared promptly; the client was kept informed at each stage. Settlement discussions began before the scheduled hearing date, which we pursued actively on our client's behalf.
Outcome
Settlement was reached eight weeks before the hearing. The client received the enhanced benefit in full, plus a contribution toward legal costs. She noted: "From the first meeting I understood what was possible and what was not. That clarity helped me throughout." Total: 9 months from instruction to settlement.
