What Sets Our Approach Apart
Pension-Specific Knowledge
Our practice centres on pension and employment benefit matters. We are familiar with EPF provisions, scheme rules under Malaysian law, and the procedural requirements of the Industrial Court.
Measured, Patient Advice
We do not suggest litigation before exploring every quieter avenue. Our first obligation is to give you an honest picture of your position and the realistic options available.
Written Record at Every Step
Every engagement is documented. You receive a written retainer, a written opinion or summary, and written updates on your matter — nothing is left to memory or assumption.
Established in Penang
Based on Jalan Dato Keramat in George Town, we are accessible to clients throughout Penang and the northern states. Remote consultations can also be arranged where travel is difficult.
Clear Language Throughout
All advice documents are written in plain English. Legal jargon is explained when it must be used. The aim is that you — and any family member or trusted advisor you consult — can understand the position clearly.
Proportionate Costs
Our fee structure is transparent. The cost of each service is stated upfront. There are no hidden charges and no obligation to engage further services after an initial consultation.
Take the First Step
Is Your Pension Being Handled Correctly?
A first consultation costs RM 290 and comes with a written summary you can keep. Many clients find that having the position clearly set out in writing helps them decide, without any pressure, whether further steps are right for them.
Questions
Commonly Asked Questions
What happens at a first consultation?
We meet to go through your pension paperwork together. You are welcome to bring any letters, statements, or correspondence you have received. At the end of the meeting we explain our findings verbally and follow up with a written summary, normally within three working days. No further steps are taken without your agreement.
How long does a legal opinion take to prepare?
Most written opinions are delivered within five to ten working days of receiving the relevant documents. Where matters are more complex — for example, where multiple employers or scheme transfers are involved — we will give you a realistic timetable at the outset.
Do I need to have tried to resolve the dispute myself first?
No. We are happy to advise at any stage, including at the very beginning when you are uncertain whether a problem exists. In some cases early legal advice can prevent a dispute from escalating; in others it confirms that your concerns are well-founded and identifies the appropriate channel for raising them.
Are your fees fixed or can they change?
The consultation and legal opinion fees are fixed as published. Representation fees are set out in a written retainer before any work begins. We do not charge for time spent outside the agreed scope without first discussing it with you. Any variation to fees is confirmed in writing.
What types of pension disputes do you handle?
We advise on disputes involving EPF contributions, employer-run pension schemes, disputes about benefit calculations, entitlement upon redundancy or early retirement, and scheme administrator decisions that appear contrary to the scheme rules. We also advise on cases where an employer's insolvency has affected pension entitlements.
Is information I share with you kept confidential?
Yes. All information disclosed to us is subject to legal professional privilege and our confidentiality obligations under the Legal Profession Act 1976. We do not share client information with any third party without your express consent, except where required by law.
